The tour takes you on a journey from the start of Black Sheep’s story to the present day as well as giving you a full insight into how our beers are made and the unique processes we use to create the perfect pint of Black Sheep.
Established in 1992 by brewing pioneer, Paul Theakston. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery from reclaimed equipment in the very same town, Masham. Set in an old maltings overlooking the town, the brewery was built using brewing kit sourced from old breweries plus a lot of heart and soul. The very same equipment is still used to this day, brewing some of your favourite Black Sheep beers that are available across the nation.
While we’d like to think Theakston ales are legendary in their own right, many other factors contribute to our company's reputation. To experience these you’ll need to visit our brewery in Masham, in North Yorkshire, where you can taste the brews fresh from the cask and smell the hops in the air!
