Palmers

Palmers Brewery, Dorset

You’ll go behind the scenes in the historic brewery buildings, to watch every stage of the centuries-old brewing process. The tour ends with a beer tasting (or a soft drink) in Palmers Wine Store, where you will receive a Palmers glass tankard, commemorating your visit.

History

In 1794, Dorset rope and net makers – the Gundry family – built the Old Brewery on the banks of the River Brit in Bridport. Since then, there’s been non-stop brewing on this site. Generations of Palmers have kept the brews bubbling.

Okell's Brewery

Here, amidst the pure shores and rolling glens of the Isle of Man, Okell's has been defined by our beautiful island for over 170 years and guided, in all that we brew, by its unique Brewing Purity Law. Welcome to Pure Perfection.

History

Dr. William Okell, a Cheshire surgeon, started Okell's Brewery in Castle Hill, Douglas, Isle of Man in 1850. He was a man of singular drive and ambition - by 1874 Dr. Okell owned many of the pubs on the island, had convinced Tynwald (the Isle of Man's parliament), to create an act ensuring the purity of beer brewed on the Isle of Man, and built The Falcon Steam Brewery just outside Douglas.

Bristol born and made to stand out, Butcombe Brewing Co. began life at a time of cultural, social and political change, crafting beer before ‘craft beer’ was even a thing.

History

Simon Whitmore, Founder of Butcombe and former MD of Courage Western and prior to that with Guinness Worldwide, set up Butcombe Brewery in old farm buildings at his family home in Butcombe, 10 miles south of Bristol, in September 1978. He used his £24, 000 redundancy payment from Courage to convert the buildings, and buy most of the brewery equipment from Allied Breweries surplus plant department in Burton-on-Trent
